10/7/12 - Up early and.................yep, you guessed it, we're on the subway again headed to none other than, Tsukiji Market for breakfast before we start our day!
Me & Dad had our sashimi bowls, I think Nikki & Ryan ate Ramen that morning.
Small street vendor stall at Tsukiji Market
Vendors at Tsukiji Market
More small and I mean small little eateries at Tsukiji Market!
Lots of FRESH fish eggs for sale!
After we grabbed our snacks for the day we were off to the subway again heading to Edo-Tokyo Museum.
This is Oni-gawara of the Main Ridge Tile of Sensoji Kannon Temple. The Edo-Tokyo Museum experience proved to be very interesting and fun! Taking a walk through history (walking alongside some English interpreters and listening in-hahaha) helped me to understand much of the historical importance of how people lived and survived through rough times.
Here we go, up the escalator to the entrance of the museum.
This was a live show with audience participation, fun!
There were models of Old Tokyo, Japan. We crossed over a bridge when entering the display area, similar to the bridge you see below.
Watching the show below!
More displays!
Of course we had to get on the rickshaw! Ryan acting like he's struggling! hahaha
Nikki, hahaha....you got on the wrong side...uhm, you don't look too happy! hahahaha
Okay, you changed places and now you look like a Chinese princess, going for a ride!
We waited forever to get our turn on these. There were these children taking picture after picture while we waited patiently...........
When it was our turn, we made sure we got the shots that we wanted before giving it up too! lol
One of the traditional home displays!
Rare moment caught on camera! lol
A traditional kitchen...
and living space...
Those tatami mats were beautiful!
Hallway down to the rooms.
Traditional dining area.
Traditional homes
Display of a midwife who helped that woman give birth at home.
Block printing.
Miniature display.
Now we know being a manapua, pepe'au peddler back in the day was hard work!
Another miniature display of a bustling city.
Beautiful!
This was an enjoyable experience. Next time, I'll make a reservation for an English translator (which by the way, is free), so we can have the full experience of the history of Tokyo, Japan!
Here's some hanging artwork as we rode the escalator down.
Can you see how far down we have to go? (Look beyond Ryan...there were two levels of escalators.)
Don't look down! You know me and heights....we don't get along!
Now we're off to the Sumo Wrestling Museum next door!
